Delatite is best known for its aromatic whites and red blends that have won many trophies and medals over the years, as well as receiving great reviews. However since 2006 the Delatite reds have increasingly stolen the limelight.
Robert and Vivienne Ritchie first planted vines here in 1968 and built the winery in 1982 and in 2005 the baton was passed to their son David.
The 28 hectare vineyard sits around 450m above sea level in the foothills of the Victorian Alps below Mt Buller. The slopes vary in gradient and outlook (from north-east to north-west) whilst the predominant soil type is red ironstone.
The fruit for the Reserve Block and Estate wines is 100% from our own estate and we’ve followed bio-dynamic principles in the vineyard since 2005. All the wines are fermented with indigenous or “wild” yeasts and all our wines are vegan friendly.
Our cellar door is open for tastings and sales every day from 10am to 5pm while the kitchen is open from 11am to 4pm for pizzas, seasonal platters based around local produce with hearty homemade soup in winter and smoked trout in summer.
